President Obama Addresses the Country about Jobs

On Thursday, September 8th 2011 President Obama addressed the country about wanting to pass the American Jobs Act. This act will create more jobs and stimulate our economy.

President Obama made a plea to congress to pass this Act so we can put our fellow Americans back to work, “This is the American Jobs Act.  It will lead to new jobs for construction workers, for teachers, for veterans, for first responders, young people and the long-term unemployed,” he also went on to say, “It will provide tax credits to companies that hire new workers, tax relief to small business owners, and tax cuts for the middle class.”

What is so striking about this speech is that he is speaking for the middle and lower classes. President Obama wants to reform our country to be the best that it can be. “I’m also well aware that there are many Republicans who don’t believe we should raise taxes on those who are most fortunate and can best afford it,” he continues, “But here is what every American knows:  While most people in this country struggle to make ends meet, a few of the most affluent citizens and most profitable corporations enjoy tax breaks and loopholes that nobody else gets.”

We live in a world where our rich are extremely rich and our poor are extremely poor and the middle class is suffering the most.  Republicans and Democrats can now work together to reform the economy and the health care situations, “It’s not just Democrats who have supported this kind of proposal,” he also says, “Fifty House Republicans have proposed the same payroll tax cut that’s in this plan.”

This Act needs to be passed. We need jobs, we need reform and that time is now. If Republicans and Democrats can work together now we can make our country even better in the future.

Palm Beach County Schools face Financial Problems

Public schools in Boca Raton Florida are facing financial issues and have stopped renovating buildings nearly 30 years old. Palm Beach County schools planned on a complete over hall of all public school. The 10 year project would cost Palm Beach County roughly $20.3 million dollars.

One public school in particular, Verde Elementary, was hoping to replace all the chalkboards because the dust has proven harmful. They were also hoping to renovate the school’s cafeteria which is too small to house all the students. The most important item on the list was fixing the school’s faulty air conditioning system. Other schools in Palm Beach County were planing on updating old equipment, fixing leaky roofs and bring all building up to code and hurricane proof. These projects have been put on hold indefinitely until funding can be found.
